Trolley in the News

***Archive***T-Town Trolley March 15, 2008  Mayor Kathy Taylor was on hand Thursday for the Press Conference hosted by the TYPRos Business Development Crew to announce the beginning of the T-Town Trolley and Loop 2008, a trolley that will link four of Tulsa’s entertainment districts; Brookside, Cherry Street, Downtown and 18th and Boston.

Blake Lund, of Blake Promotions, and owner of T-Town Trolleys, hopes that other private investors and companies will step up to the plate so that the Trolley can eventually include three or more trolley cars, and travel even farther south along Riverside to the Jenks RiverWalk area.

In her comments, Mayor Taylor called this initiative “long overdue”. She cited several benefits to the city that this Trolley Loop will provide, including: enhance quality of life; promote restaurant and retail business; provide hospitality to out of town guests; reduce traffic congestion and reduce parking issues.

According to Lund, the Trolley will be free. It will run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and make seven stops as it travels the 2008 Loop of Tulsa’s entertainment districts.

John Bolton, general manager of the BOK Arena, agreed that the trolley will be an asset to the BOK arena and the entire downtown entertainment district.
